Mouths across Dubai and the world fell open at the huge fines racked up by one British tourist, who rented a Lambo and broke the Sheikh Zayed Road speed limit 33 times.
Driving up to speeds of 230km per hour, the foolhardy motorist amassed the fines of over AED170,000 in an AED1.3 million Lamborghini Huracan in under FOUR hours…and now the plot thickens.
The driver STILL has the car at his given address, a Palm Jumeirah hotel, allegedly afraid to return it in case he’s slapped a huge bill, according to the dealership via the National.
The dealership still the passport of the offending tourist, who handed it in by way of guarantee when he initially rented the coveted supercar.
Racking up fines of AED70,000 for 12 violations and then another AED105,000 to get the car out of impound, the car dealership is reluctant to retrieve the car from the hotel, as it cannot pay the impound fines.
The dealership believe the driver is at fault and needs to pay the impound fines, according to the report.
The British Embassy has been informed of the incident.
