New note, who dis?!
On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the UAE issued a brand new AED50 banknote to honour the former UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, on the occasion of the country’s 50th National Day.
The newly launched 50 dirham note will go into circulation nationwide and will be available across Central Banks and ATM machines in the near future.

The original AED50 note adorned the face of an Arabian oryx (the UAE’s national animal) on one side and a print of the Al Jahili Fort on the other side.
The new banknote features the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, as well as other founding Rulers. Apart from prominent figures, the note also features various national and historical monuments.
One of the prints is of the memorial picture of the founding fathers after signing the “Union Document.”
The note was revealed in the presence of, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The ceremony was also attended by, H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Qaiwain, H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman.
