On Thursday a news article about a popular pizza joint in Abu Dhabi being shut down due to health violations had gone viral for all the wrong reasons.

The articles and tweets stating that the restaurant is being shut down due to insect contamination and other health violations – had named the WRONG restaurant!

This led to a swarm of (no pun intended) tweets being posted by UAE residents, correcting the media on their error.

Whilst some residents are SUPER confused, other residents are setting the facts straight

I think Talib is alluding to the fact that the actual article names "Leopold of London" as the restaurant that's shut down whereas GN tweet mentions a completely different restaurant.

Even if same group or owner for both restaurants, it's a rather glaring error.

The team from Leopold's of London must be rejoicing that @gulf_news got the name of the restaurant wrong. Not sure what the guys from Pizzaro will say, though.

The Leopold’s of London branch in Abu Dhabi is being shut down by the ADFCA because they failed to meet the health regulations

The branch which is located at Al Raha beach at Al Muneera, Abu Dhabi is being shut down by the ADFCA (Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority) for committing MULTIPLE food violations.

During the inspections that were carried out in June, July and August the food and safety inspectors who went to examine the branch found insects in the kitchen and also found that the expiration labels on the food items have been meddled with.

According to a report published by the Emarat Al Youm, Thamer Rashid Al Qasimi, the official spokesman of the ADFCA also stated that the person in charge of the cafeteria chain did not take actions to improve the hygiene standards despite numerous warnings by the authority.

Al Qasimi further added that the branch will remain temporarily closed until the management takes the necessary actions to revamp its standards and comply to the regulations, only then would they be able to resume operating as normal.
