Hurrah for teachers!
In a bid to help struggling students and improve standards, the Ministry of Education is legalising one-one-one tuition, however the permission will only be available for teachers in public schools, according the National.
Teachers who are willing to take on one-on-one tutoring need to register for the new scheme and conduct the lessons outside of their own school, and will be reimbursed for doing so.
Currently the practice of private tutoring is illegal for both public and private teachers.
Teachers register on the ‘teach for the UAE’ platform and the services will be available for students who are weak in certain areas, where focused learning will help them improve.
Parents will not pay for the service. Budget has been allocated to the scheme and the teacher’s participation will be recognised during performance appraisals.
Interested public school teachers can register here.
