The UAE and Saudi Arabia have blocked Qatari news sites after hackers posted false information on Qatar-based news sites on Wednesday – including the Qatari national news agency.
The stories reportedly misquoted the ruler of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on information and relations regarding Iran and Palestine with the Gulf.
Websites including Al Jazeera have currently been blocked from access within the UAE.
“The Qatar News Agency (QNA) website has been hacked by an unknown entity. A false statement attributed to His Highness has been published.
“An ongoing investigation will be put in place to look into this matter. The statement published has no basis whatsoever, and the competent authorities in the State of Qatar will hold all those (involved) accountable.”
