Hold on to your space helmets because UAE astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi is sharing some seriously stunning views of Dubai from the International Space Station (ISS).
The ‘Sultan of Space’, as he’s affectionately known, is currently on the longest Arab space mission ever on the ISS and he’s giving us earthbound folk a glimpse of Dubai from his out-of-this-world vantage point.
In a social media post that’s gone viral, Al Neyadi shared a spectacular night-time view of Dubai from space. The image shows the city shining like a galaxy of stars, with the sparkling lights of the Palm Jumeirah and other coastal developments vividly visible.
حتى من خارج الكوكب .. دبي كوكبٌ آخر 🤍✨
Dubai shines almost as bright as the stars up here. #MyDubai 🤍✨ pic.twitter.com/cWe74Ku5DM

In fact, it’s one of his favourite things to do. And if you’re wondering what a Najmonaut is, it’s a witty term coined by combining the Arabic word ‘Najm’ (which means star) and astronaut, to refer to an Arab astronaut.
Al Neyadi kicked off his space-sharing frenzy by posting a video of his first views of Earth from the Cupola of the space station, just days after he blasted off into space on March 2. Since then, he’s been treating us to a steady stream of amazing images and videos that capture the majesty and beauty of our planet as seen from space.
