The battle between owner of the resort on the Palm Jumeirah, operating as a Viceroy and its operator continues to take very public twists and turns.
The resort, owned by FIVE Holdings, was under management by Viceroy Hotels and Resorts, until a statement from FIVE issued just months after the hotel opened, announced FIVE was reclaiming management of the property.
The case was subsequently taken to the DIFC courts, where the courts ruled that the Viceroy was to remain as operator of the property.
The statement reads:
Viceroy confirms that the injunction issued by the DIFC Courts on 22 June 2017 remains in place. That order prohibits the owner of the Viceroy Palm Jumeirah Dubai hotel from taking any steps to prevent Viceroy from exercising its exclusive authority to manage the hotel, and orders the reinstatement of Viceroy. As such, today’s statement by FIVE is inaccurate in many respects.
And it added that the Viceroy are currently being denied access to the property.
