A Philippine Airlines flight from Dubai to Manila was diverted when a woman on board went into labour.
The flight made its way to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, India, so Mary Grace Alejandro, 40, could receive medical care, after giving birth on board the jetliner.
Mary, originally from the Philippines but currently working in Dubai, was travelling with her 16-year-old son, when she went into labour. Crew announced to all passengers that the flight would be landing in India so she could seek medical attention. Mary gave birth during the flight to a baby girl, who was born prematurely at seven months.
The family were rushed to hospital, where Mary and the baby are in a stable condition, soon to be joined by Mary’s sister and husband.
