You’d think after the Uber-Careem merger deal that only Careem’s big bosses would benefit but no no, that is not the case here.
In one of the largest tech deals seen in the region, Uber Technologies announced purchasing Careem for $US3.1 Billion. Careem is planned to continue its operations independently, with some of its co-founders remaining to watch over things.
According to The National, HUNDREDS of Careem employees will become millionaires after the sale to Uber. More than 270 of the ride-hailing app’s staff will receive AED1million or more for their shares.
Careem currently has 4,000 people working under them with stock options AND their shares in the company will also be bought as part of the Uber-Careem deal.
The entire transaction between Uber to Careem is set to complete by early next year.
