Talks of Apple and Amazon being in licensing discussions with Riyadh as to invest in Saudi Arabia have been in the air and we’re more than excited.

More than three different sources have confirmed that Apple has officially been in talks with Saudi Arabia’s foreign investment authority, SAGIA, in hopes to establish a presence in the Saudi market.

As for Amazon Web Services (AWS)

With already a presence through Souq.com, conversations concerning the opening of Amazon, led by the cloud division, in the Kingdom are still in the earliest of stages and so no date has been set for the investment.

The Crown Prince’s vision

The introduction of both Apple and Amazon into the Saudi market not only would boost sales, but in accordance to the Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, this would help in achieving a high-tech look for the Kingdom.

SAGIA is expected to sign a licensing agreement with Apple stores by Feb 2018, with retail stores to follow the following year.
