Team Angel Wolf: The Incredible Journey Of Rio’s Race

Team Angel Wolf is all about inclusion, specifically the inclusion of People Of Determination. The Watson family has always been inspiring us to get out there, do what we love, no matter what hurdles we face. Although their son Rio is a Person of Determination, this has never stopped him from running, swimming, climbing, and cycling with Team Angel Wolf.

Rio’s Race was hosted ever since he was not able to join the Ironman 70.3 Dubai race on March 12, 2021. Team Angel Wolf were heartbroken but made it their mission to give Rio the race he was so patiently waiting for.

Rio’s Race was a middle distance triathlon, held on April 3 but only now are we seeing the full video!

Rio’s Race made it so that Rio completed his 18th Middle Distance Triathlon

The caption beneath the video stated that sure it might not be a race per se but Rio completed the same distance which means “he has now completed his 18th Middle Distance Triathlon.” Not many can say they completed 18 of them! to put that into perspective, that’s 400 races and over 10,000kms.

So many people came to show their support, cheer and join in. Rio’s dad swam with Rio in a kayak for 1.9kms in Dubai. After that, Nick got on a specialised bike that has a seat just for Rio. They cycled for 90kms! Finally, the run came just before the end of the day. At kite beach, Nick runs while pushing Rio in a specialised chair for a whopping 21 kms.

The race was inspiring, inclusive, and impeccable!
