The Passport Rankings 2022: The UAE Moves Up A Rank AGAIN

The Henley Passport Index, which ranks the strength of passports globally, indicated that the UAE has moved up a rank and levelled up to the 15th slot worldwide as of Q1 2022.

The Emirati passport now allows its citizens to enter 175 countries without a visa. Previously they had access to 174 countries without the need for a visa or granted visa upon arrival.

The UAE passport is the strongest among all Arab countries

Kuwait and Qatar were the next 2 Arab countries coming in at 60 and 61. Both have jumped in 2022 and now rank 53 and 54. The UAE remains in the top 20 of the index. The one country that’s not moving is Japan, as they have the most powerful passport in 2022 and 2021 with access to 192 countries.

In Q2 of 2021, the Emirati passport allowed its citizens access to 174 countries and was ranked number 16, along with Chile, Monaco, and Romania. The UAE has gained access to 140 countries since 2006 (refer to the image below).

  4. Austria, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Sweden
  5. Ireland, Portugal
