UPDATE: THE Fahr has refuted the claims that working hours will change on July 1.

An optional 4-day work week for UAE government employees has been announced and will come into effect on July 1.

The ‘compressed working model’ will mean a 3-day weekend for full-time government staff

The new regulations offer full-time employees the option to work a 40 hour week across 4 days, intensifying the number of hours, to enjoy a 3-day weekend.

Employees will be permitted to work a maximum of 10 hours per day across a 4-day period.

The regulations also include provisions for onsite work, remote work within and outside the county, and hybrid working according to the Al Bayan.

This is a developing story…

The move follow Sharjah which successfully shifted to a 4-day week working model

A 4-day work week has improved productivity in Sharjah, according to a new report by Sharjah Executive Council which said productivity, satisfaction, and happiness of employees increased by almost 90%.

The new report shows that productivity increased by 88%, attendance has increased by 74%, job satisfaction is up by 90% and 87% of employees like the reduction of one working day per week has had a positive effect on their mental health.

This is the second time a comprehensive report has been created to determine the benefits of a 4-day work week in Sharjah and it’s the second time the findings have been resoundingly positive.
