Watch Out For Fake Ads Selling Tickets On Social Media

Mayar Ibrahim

Social media ads have become a powerful tool for businesses to reach their target audiences. However, they also present a fertile ground for scammers. The latest scam consists of the circulation of fake ads promoting tickets for events and concerts.

These malicious acts exploit the vast reach and personal data available on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to create deceptive advertisements. Once engaged, victims may fall prey to scams involving identity theft, financial fraud, or phishing attacks.

The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) urges the public to watch out for fake ads on social media

Scammers lead their targets with heavily discounted advertisements for tickets to events and concerts in the UAE. Once the scammers collect more than enough money, they disappear. Moreover, the ADJD stresses the importance of not sharing your personal banking details online.

Staying vigilant and exercising caution while interacting with social media ads is crucial in protecting oneself from falling victim to these online scams. Also, authorities urge those interested in upcoming events must purchase the tickets from official website to avoid falling victim to fake ads.

The ADJD advised fraud victims to report such incidents on the hotline 8002626.
