The UAE Is The Second MOST Expensive Place For An Education And It’s No Surprise

Parents, the verdict is out.

UAE ranks as the second-most expensive place in the world to get an education.

A BCC report shows that parents in UAE pay an average of a whopping AED363,641 (US$99,000) for their kids’ education from primary to undergraduate school.

Feeling the pinch because of back-to-school season? Well, now you know why.

What’s number one on the list? Hong Kong.

Parents there fork out a staggering figure of AED481,774 (US$131,161) for children’s schooling. Keep in mind, this is after taking out any scholarships, loans or state support. The number is dizzying, we know.

Third in line is Singapore with AED260,794 (US$71,000), followed by the US, which comes in at AED213,043 (US$58,000).

It’s a sharp contrast to countries like France, where parents only contribute $16,000 toward their child’s education.

But on the plus side, private school fees have been frozen for the academic year 2018/2019 to reduce financial burden on parents. Yaay!
