AED 35 Million Number Plate Was Sold Last Night In Aid Of The 1 Billion Meal Initiative
The ‘Most Noble Numbers’ charity auction was a hit after it sold the world’s third most expensive car plate number, the AA8, sold for a whopping AED35 million.
The difference between this year’s food donation goal, is that unlike other campaigns in the past, donations will remain intact until 1billion meals is achieved whereas prior it would have to end on Ramadan’s final night.
The 1 Billion meal initiative is organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and it intends to deliver food parcels in refugee camps, poor areas and crisis-stricken communities along with the United Nations’ World Food Program (WFP).
Reports say that distribution of the meals has already taken place in Lebanon, India, Egypt, Jordan, Uganda, Angola, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.
