Peeps who grew up in the 80s and 90s in Manchester, hop aboard the nostalgia train that is this post!

The memories of partying at the legendary superclub Hacienda might be hazy, but the rave anthems played at the institution are still clear as day.

We thought what better way to reminisce about those good ol’ days than to remember some of the iconic songs that made (and continue to make) people raise their hands and bob their heads…even today.

(Legendary Ha̤ienda DJs Graeme Park and Mike Pickering will unite to perform with a full symphony orchestra, The Manchester Camerata, on November 22 and 23 at Dubai Opera Рget your tickets now!)

Here’s a list of the top rave anthems from the Hacienda days…

1. You Got the Love- The Source ft Candi Staton

The vocals and the clever tune made this one the biggest dance anthems of all time..one that refuses to die.

A perky disco-pop track that’s a guaranteed floor-filler – LOVE IT!

2. Voodoo Ray- A Guy called Gerald

It is arguably one of the most famous acid house anthems of all time (it was the first acid house single produced in the UK) and is DEFINITELY the face of Hacienda club.

It’s inspired by the house music sounds that were popular in Chicago and Detroit at the time, and has a major recall value all thanks to its beginning music that resembles tribal-like chanting.

3. Pacific State – 808 State

Considered to be the landmark in British house music and in the development of UK acid house scene…it’s a classic rave track!

The song also serves as a major inspiration for several current techno and electronic artists, and is the reason why it creates such a storm in clubs even today.

4. Hallelujah- Happy Mondays

One of the classic dance club tracks from the Hacienda era.

With psychedelia inflections and a peppy house beat, Hallelujah has the ability to actually turn even the worst Mondays on their head.

5. Rhythm is a Mystery- K Class

From bongo to drum to saxophone and a catchy singalong chorus- this track has it all!

6. Come Together- Primal Scream

Come Together was the centerpiece of Primal Scream’s 1990 album Screamadelica.

The trippy pulsating groove with trails of guitar make this the most floor-ready track of all time.

7. Ride on Time- Black Box

A UK No. 1 and the best selling single of 1989, the track is pure pop perfection.

Ride on Time has the trappings of Italian house genre, along with that bouncy bass, piano riff and thrilling vocal hooks make it the biggest disco songs of all time.

GREAT NEWS: You can listen to all these songs, and then some more LIVE at Dubai Opera this November
