Authorities Found Wreckage Of The Helicopter That Crashed Into The Sea And Confirmed The Death Of One Of The Pilots

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) extended its sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and upheld its commitment to immediately publish further updates on the incident

On Thursday, a helicopter carrying two pilots crashed into the Gulf sea near the coast of Umm Al Quwain.

According to the Air Accident Investigation Sector at the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), the incident took place at around 8:30 pm during a night training exercise.

After taking off from Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai, the chopper fell into the sea with two pilots of Egyptian and South African nationalities onboard. It was supposed to fly to an off-shore rig.

The Bell 212 chopper was owned by Aerogulf and had the registration mark A6-ALD.

Search and rescue efforts for the remaining missing crew member are still underway.
