Avatar

T’is the time to make merry! One can comfortably say December is the MOST festive season of the year. Travel, festivities, the weather- it all falls together so beautifully. And, with the holiday fever setting in, travel is certainly on the cards. Well, that also means you gotta be double careful. Etihad Airways has issued a bunch of regulations you must be aware, in case you’re traveling this Christmas. Read on!

18 Dec will be the busiest day at Abu Dhabi International Airport

The busiest day for travel from Abu Dhabi International Airport will be Saturday, December 18, and Etihad is reminding travellers to get to the airport well ahead of time.

Here are some pointers that will ensure a smooth journey!

1. Use the airline’s Early Check-In facility

The airline’s new Early-Check-In facility will not only ease the process but will also give you 1,000 complimentary Guest Miles. More reasons to use it, isn’t it?

Using this, you can check in 24-48 hours before departure, so all you’ll be left with is to drop off your luggage. But, the one dropping of baggage must provide Covid-19 travel documents for all people travelling under the same reservation.

Early check-in desks are open from 9am until 4am, seven days a week at the Skypark Plaza at Abu Dhabi Airport.

2. Get to airport REALLY early

We mean it! The travel rush is crazy, so its best you get to the airport well ahead of time. Etihad will open check-in desks four hours before the flight departure time and close them one hour before departure. If you’re flying to the US, check-in closes two hours before flights are due to leave.

And, just a heads up- boarding gates for all Etihad Airways flights close 20 minutes before departure.

3. A negative PCR test is a MUST

Irrespective of where you’re travelling to, you will need a negative PCR test. You can upload all Covid-19 related travel documents on the web and receive an email approval confirming that everything is correct and accepted for travel.

Once this is done, you can also use the Verified to Fly desks at the airport, or the self-service kiosks which is likely to save you time.

4. Check flight timings and requirements for each country

Given the ever-changing travel rules, its always best you re-check and re-check the travel to the country you are headed to. Besides, don’t forget to check your flight timings!

5. And, lastly have a happy and a safe journey! 🙂
