Bill Gates Tells Anas Bukash He Used An Online Course To Learn About The Holy Quran

Farah Makhlouf

Unlike most interviews on AB Talks, this one episode is possibly the shortest in duration and that’s because it’s with one of the busiest men in the world. Emirati entrepreneur and interviewer Anas Bukhash sat down with Bill Gates himself in a short but informative and entertaining interview.

Bill Gates is more than just the creator of Microsoft. He is a businessman, investor and philanthropist. He’s also very much a family man with very strong ties with his children and grandchildren.

Anas sat down with Bill Gates to talk about his journey, life experiences, work, family, online learning, climate change and more

Bill is very deep in his work with philanthropy; specifically in health, studies and climate change

While his exceptional and life-changing work on Microsoft and philanthropy are vastly different, Anas noticed that the link between the two is problem-solving!

One of Bill’s most impactful experiences was getting bed nets where Mosquito-borne disease Malaria was most common. Malaria was killing a million children a year and with the help of the Gates Foundation, they were able to make a drastic difference. He worked to provide vaccines to rural communities who needed it the most.

Bill Gates is a family man

Anas asked Bill how his mother Mary helped shape him into the man he is today. Bill described his mother as philanthropic and generous, previously working in the United Way to help the community.

“now it’s time for you to give back in some way” Bill was recalling his mother’s words once he started to become successful. His father was also the exact same way. In fact, he began working on the foundation while Bill was full-time at Microsoft. 8 years later, Bill retired from Microsoft and joined the foundation full-time to help make a positive impact on the world.

When talking about his 8-month-old granddaughter he said that being a grandfather “re-energizes you to see how they’re learning things and how they see things differently.”

Bill Gates describes himself as a student, learning about the Qur’an and Bible online

Bill is an avid reader and reads about 50 books a year. Anas took a gander and asked Bill if he’d call himself “a forevermore student of Life” which turned out to be a very accurate assumption. Learning has become so much easier with education being accessible online. “Now with all these online courses, whether it’s the history of the Qur’an or the Bible, I get a kick out of being taught,” he said.

He wants the new generation and the youth of today to know that the world has gotten better. “We’re living longer, we’re literate, we’re more nourished,” he added.

Like most of us, Bill Gates is a student who is continuously learning and developing!
