With peppy old desi numbers blaring on his speakers, this 47-year-old man rides into your sight in his bicycle, adorned with fluorescent lights. He stops outside restaurants and begins 5 minutes of dancing
AKA 5 minutes of making you forget all your worries. Those who watch him go through a rollercoaster of confusion, amusement and then a large burst of infectious joy that gets carried into the rest of their day.
Since Ramadan last year, “Night Pandey” has been doing these lovely performances every night without fail
He wraps up his shift as a security guard in a building near City Centre Deira by 7 pm and heads home to dawn his glowing embellishments. He then takes the cycle he was gifted by a Filipino friend and sets out on his mission.
When I got the cycle I decided I would just put lights and enjoy…but Masha’Allah people gave me so much love and respect. I noticed that they were becoming really happy after seeing me- even if just for 5 minutes. This is my aim- to make people happy!
And so this happy man from Pakistan’s Balochistan goes all around Dubai- Karama, Sheikh Zayed Road, Bur Dubai…and sometimes even Sharjah.

With the help of his very supportive boss- to whom he credits everything- Night Pandey is able to continue these nightly joy rides for free, with no worries
People continue to shower him with gifts regardless! Night Pandey has slowly made a name for himself and is becoming a definite attraction called in for birthdays, grand openings and other special occasions.
In Dubai everyone is working all day… then they get tired, upset and just head out to eat dinner. Then they see me and forget everything! Even if just for a minute, they forget their worries.
He strongly believes that nobody else in Dubai can be happy every day for two years straight…except him. As long as he is able to provide for his family back home Night Pandey is a content man. Besides God, He credits his supportive boss for all this happiness and support. “He is a fairy- really.”
