The vision to have 25% of transport in Dubai driverless by 2030 is well underway…

The autonomous transport solution for Bluewaters Island, (the island currently under construction off the coast of JBR and home to Ain Dubai) has successfully passed the first round of testing.

The tests, carried out by automated transit company 2getthere, subjected the vehicles to various stages of extreme climates according to a report in Arabian Business.

Once approved, 25 of the buses will provide the public transport to and from the island.

There will be two stations

Situated 2.6km apart. The trip time will be approx 4.5 minutes. The electric vehicles will need a recharge every one and a half hours, this will take ten minutes.

The system is scheduled to be complete by 2019/2020.
