You need to check this out.
As part of a public arts initiative, Emaar has unveiled a new installation above the Dubai Fountain, it’s a woven structure by artist Janet Echelman and it’s called ‘1.78’.
Part of an ‘Earth Time Series’ created by the artist, ‘1.78’ refers to the number of microseconds that, according to NASA, the day was shortened when a single physical event shifted the earth’s mass, thus speeding up the planet’s daily rotation.
The beautiful sculpture is reflective, meaning each visitor will gets their own unique view
The ‘Earth Time Series’ has been exhibited globally and the exhibition here is part of Emaar’s new public arts initiative. Definitely worth a visit!
It’s made of layers of bright polyethylene threads tied in over 600,000 knots over a whopping 124 kilometres of string
The layers of highly engineered fibre are 15 times stronger than steel by weight
Check it out after dark, when coloured lights make the sculpture look incredible!
