Customers in Dubai have been outraged about a new campaign promising AED1 BACK to customers for every minute that their food orders are late. Many have taken to social media to express concerns that the campaign will put pressure on Careem Captains and encourage them to drive unsafely.

But, fear not! Careem will take on payments for late deliveries NOT the captains

& it’s worth noting that captains can’t even see the estimated delivery time. Phew!

Captains will not bear the responsibility of any late deliveries and they won’t be penalized for them in any way. Careem is bearing the cost of all late delivery reimbursements

This means that Careem Captains will not be incentivised to drive faster. In fact, they won’t even be able to see what time Careem promises to deliver your food and have been instructed to maintain their usual safety measures.

Have you ever been so sure of something, that you’d put money on it? Well Careem Food is SO sure that you can rely on them for ON POINT delivery ETAs (This means they have full confidence in delivering orders ON TIME (at the designated ETA, rather than excessively quick.)

Careem has said that they are launching this campaign because they are confident in their ability to maintain ETA accuracy by:

  • Always assigning the Captain that is closest to the restaurant
  • Working closely with restaurant partners to make sure that food leaves the restaurant fresh as soon as its out of the kitchen
  • Never grouping multiple orders together; so there is always one Captain delivering each order

We’re confident in our ability to deliver food to our customers super fast without compromising on the quality of our orders, thanks to Careem’s market-leading logistics infrastructure. So confident that we’re promising to reimburse our customers AED 1 dirham for every minute that their order is late for the duration of the campaign.
