An Exhibition Asked Seven Domestic Workers To Create Pieces Of Art On Footwear And It’s Beautiful
A local exhibition is trying to help people walk in another person’s shoes, with some special art.
Soles & Stories was presented by Fleishman Hillard Middle East and the Sameness Project to mark the firm’s 70th anniversary recently at Gulf Photo Plus.
Work Of Art
The exhibition showcased the artistic work and portraits of seven domestic workers Maya, and Evelyn from the Philippines; Anu and Diana from Sri Lanka and Helen and Elisabeth from Kenya.
They were provided a pair of plain TOM’s shoes to express their unique experiences from their joys to their struggles and their dreams.
Extending Support
The items were sold with proceeds going to the domestic workers for their efforts, who then generously pledged to donate part of the funds to the Dubai Women’s and Children’s Foundation.
To add experience to it all, their works of art were displayed alongside their portraits shot by acclaimed Emirati photographer Amani Al Shaali.
