One amazing initiative is encouraging children to create their future!

To truly show kids that we’re listening, NextGen10 by HSBC is an incredible programme that recognises the talents of young minds and provides an opportunity for children to run free with their ideas, explore new concepts, and share their thoughts. They were asked to create future-focused solutions based on themes like technology, climate change, social equality and more in an idea that proves we need more than money to change the world.

10 finalists presented their ideas at the UK Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 of which HSBC is the founding partner. Following this, 3 winners were selected by the judges and they EACH received AED25k to launch their idea.

The impressive submissions, from a toy donating app and a vertical garden app to a C02 absorbing drone, proves these minds are positively focused on making the world a better place!

Each creative idea proves we should be listening to the younger generation and it was the task of judges from both HSBC and external judges including Abdulfattah Sharaf, CEO for HSBC in the UAE, Wemmy de Maaker, Director of Mawaheb, and many more esteemed judges to choose the winners.

And the winners are…!

Maria Falazknaz created a walking stick for the visual impaired

My idea is a smart walking cane to aid any visually impaired people and help them to walk around freely avoiding any obstacles or hazardous conditions they might encounter while walking. It has multiple sensors with advanced technologies to detect fire, water, obstacles and light to simplify their lives and make these issues easier for them to handle.

Tanay Jagannathan created a C02 absorbing drone

My idea is to use an electrically charged drone carrying chemicals in a porous attachment capable of absorbing carbon dioxide from ambient air. As it flies through the air, carbon dioxide is absorbed and the air is cleaned.

Sreya Binesh created a vertical garden app

Magic Garden is connected to timer which is connected to the WiFi so that it can be controlled through a mobile app. Something that makes it different is that it can be controlled from any part of the world and the irrigation of your vertical garden will start with a click of a button after recognizing the moisture content of the soil so that there’s no wastage of water.
