Afternoon tea: tea, cakes, scones and a bit of a treat…right? You might take your mum for her birthday. But what Prime 68 have, is a new spin on it.
You will know of Prime 68, as one of the best steakhouses in town, located, as the name would suggest, on the 68th floor of JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai Business Bay. Here are five reasons why this is afternoon tea with a difference…
When you enter this restaurant during the day, you are immediately struck with how big the windows are and how great the view is. Our perfectly laid table, white tablecloth dotted with sweets and snacks, overlooked SZR right where the canal is being built past Safa Park, to the ocean, and dwarfing the new Ritz hotel from above.
This option is perfect if you want a late lunch. It’s a classy and perfect a la carte menu for the weekend. And even more perfect for a date. There is enough going on around you, enough courses and nice music, for a few hours to fly past.
It doesn’t always work when restaurants try and reinvent themselves with a new concept, places that are known for lunch, trying to do late night dining for example. But this is a prime example, that if enough thought is put into the concept it can work.
Tea is offered, alcoholic and non, and the ‘courses’ are full on meals rather than the finger food of a normal afternoon tea, best of all, they’re all insanely delicious.
I’m a big fan of cheesecake and usually reserve eating it for special occasions, otherwise I would eat it every day. I had to try all three, the classic, the Oreo and the raspberry cheesecake. They were divine, the Oreo one gets my vote as the best, just.
My companion and I were so disappointed when it was over. It’s very reasonably priced, with non-alcohol priced at 185 AED and the alcoholic option priced at 220 AED.
